About Me

Hi and welcome to my personal blog! Here I will be documenting my life, travels, and many, many book reviews.

Book Blogging History
I’ve been a book blogger since 2011, where I founded my first blog, Shiirleyy’s Bookshelf . I’ll forever be grateful to the wonderful Aussie publishers for believing in 16 year old me to read, review, blog and promote their books; to the book blogging community for their never-ending support and encouragement, and for introducing me to so many lovely people from all over the world. As of 2017, I have officially left Shiirleyy’s Bookshelf. It will still be up (as long as Blogger doesn’t shut it down) but I will be blogging on Dear Shirley from now on. The reason I’ve decided to start a new blog is simply because I want a fresh start; Shiirleyy’s Bookshelf was a safe haven for 16, 17 and 18 year old me, but now it brings back memories of the pressure of blogging, where I was constantly forcing myself to read and post reviews instead of reading….for enjoyment. It became a job and a chore. I’ve recently rediscovered my love for reading, and with that, reviewing. I will be reading and writing at my own pace and about whatever I want 🙂

Some of my favourite authors are:
J.K Rowling // Richelle Mead // Laini Taylor // Stephanie Perkins // Gayle Forman // Sarah J Maas // Jodi Picoult // Stephen King // Paula Hawkins // Gillian Flynn // Kevin Kwan // Philippa Gregory // Colleen Hoover

I went on exchange to Canada in 2016 and spent the better half of the year travelling around North America and Europe. Travelling and books are my passions in life; some people work hard to purchase a house but as of now, I’m working hard to save up for my next adventure. I hope to use this blog as a platform to record my future adventures and to maybe brush up on my writing skills 😛
